Agribusiness AS-T
The Agriculture Business Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T) degree is designed to provide a clear pathway to a CSU major and baccalaureate degree. California Community College students who are awarded an ADT (Associate Degree for Transfer) are guaranteed admission with junior standing somewhere in the CSU system.
The curriculum for the Agribusiness AS-T program is designed to be completed in two years. The Agriculture and Natural Resources department is committed to helping students achieve their degree in a timely manner. Students should follow the recommended course sequence of classes and work with SRJC Counseling to determine an educational plan.

AGBUS 2 - Agricultural Computer Applications
Computer use in the workplace with emphasis on agribusiness situations. Use of software applications including Microsoft office, presentation manager, Google applications to develop documents and tools for agribusinesses. Also included in this course will be the strategies and techniques for using current online sales and marketing tools in agribusiness.
Recommended Preparation: Eligibility for ENGL 1A or equivalent and Course Completion of CS 5

AGBUS 7 - Agricultural Economics
Introduction to factors affecting demand and supply for food, fiber and agricultural inputs. Evaluating factors of production, production costs, market structure, price system and their applications in agriculture. Examine local and federal policies and implications for agribusiness and trade.

AGBUS 56 - Introduction to Agriculture Business and Management
This course provides an overview of the business and economic aspects of the agriculture industry. Introduction to the economic aspects of agriculture and the implications for consumers and other sectors of the food system. Principles of management and decision-making in agribusiness.

AGBUS 61 - Agricultural Marketing
Survey of marketing aspects of the agriculture industry. An overview of the structure and institutional aspects of the marketing system including global agricultural markets. Develop and present effective marketing plans for value-added commodities. Conduct industry studies of the marketing of selected locally grown commodities.

AGBUS 62 - Agricultural Sales and Communication
This course involves the study of principles and practices of the selling process: selling strategies and approaches, why and how people buy, prospecting, territory management, and customer service. Self management, communication, and interpersonal skills necessary in developing managerial abilities, leadership qualities, and facilitating teamwork within the agribusiness sector will be explored. The course content is organized to give students an in depth understanding of the factors that influence selling in the agribusiness industry.

AGBUS 71 - Agricultural Accounting
Applications of the principles and practices of financial and managerial accounting in agribusiness. The course also includes methods of record-keeping, measurement of revenue and expenses and analysis of financial positions in agribusiness.

AGBUS 105 - Agricultural Finance
This course involves the study of basic financial concepts, agricultural lending, financial institutions, financial and investment analysis. In addition, this course examines financial risk, risk management, legal aspects of agricultural finance, and the principles and practices for financing different forms of legal business organizations in agriculture.

AGBUS 151 - Agriculture Leadership
The course involves the study of leadership theories and practices and their applications in agricultural organizations. The content is organized to provide students the skills for understanding group dynamics, leadership development, effective communication, agriculture literacy, and advocacy within private, governmental, and non-profit agriculture enterprises. Practical experience will be gained through planning and participation in a number of community and outreach events in the agriculture industry.

AGBUS 152 - Agriculture Mentor Training
This course is designed to prepare students for a variety of leadership roles in agricultural organizations. Experiences will be gained through participating and leading in several activities including leadership training, agriculture literacy events, student recruitment, mentorship, and planning/implementing/evaluating events within the agriculture industry.
